Safety Manager
We are seeking motivated candidates to fulfill the role of Safety Manager on projects in the northern California area (surrounding Sacramento and East Bay areas) performing heavy civil, transportation, water and wastewater work. Initially, the primary focus will be on a Light Rail Project where we are performing underground storm and sewer utility work
This position includes managing the Health and Safety aspects to create and sustain a productive work culture and safe work environment in order to avoid and minimize Health and Safety related problems. Requires an individual who is well organized, detailed-oriented, able to communicate effectively with management, coworkers, clients, vendors and visitors and provide guidance, assistant and advice to project team members through interpretation of Company, Client and State/Federal Regulations. This position reports to the Corporate Safety Manager.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to administer compliance with company safety injury and illness prevention plan and lead accident prevention efforts to ensure company and project safety goals are met. Develop project specific safety plans and submittals and Oversee subcontractor’s adherence to project specific safety plans. Conduct work area assessments, develop and facilitate appropriate training programs, perform and document jobsite inspections and audits with a focus on hazard recognition and unsafe behaviors, coordinate and conduct safety meetings/trainings programs to ensure effective communication amongst employees, review and assist project teams with job hazard analysis and other duties assigned.
Qualifications: Accredited four year degree in applicable field of study and 5 years of work-related experience or a combination of education and work-related experience equal to 9 years; knowledge and understanding of Construction Safety Orders, confined space, trench & shoring safety, fall protection, CalOSHA and other state/federal standards, familiarity with rail standards, ability to communicate (verbal & written) effectively with internal and external team members and stakeholders; job related technical knowledge necessary to fulfill the role; basic computer and software skills inclusive of Excel/spreadsheets, Word, Teams, Outlook; and effective time management and prioritization skills. Preferred qualifications include Spanish speaking, experience handling workers comp. cases and injury claims.
